What is the difference between men and women? A woman wants one man to satisfy her every need. A man wants every woman to satisfy his one need. Men Jokes

Jokes like this are common. Men like sex more than women do, right? Sure, this applies – to some men and some women. But are all men hornier than all women? Nope.

Edward O. Laumann’s extensive US-based research determined that 60% of men think about sex at least once a day whereas only 25% of women do so at the same frequency. Even if these statistics are grounded in ample testing and analysis, they are still only norms. Not everyone will neatly fit into this framework.

There are many women with high sex drives. I consider Laumann’s study and immediately question, Once a day? I would have so much free time and extra brain space if that was the case!

Little research exists surrounding women with high sex drive. It sometimes feels as though those of us dreaming about sex non-stop are an anomaly. An enigma. Yet society has definite opinions about us.

What defines a highly sexual woman?

I want and think about sex almost endlessly. Some women I know don’t understand this at all. But others do. According to Sarah Hunter Murray I am not alone in having intense sexual urges that can’t be ignored.

Research shows that women with higher sex drives communicate more with regard to sex, have higher numbers of sexual thoughts and fantasies, and tend to be more sexually adventurous. They report “higher levels of sexual self-esteem and better body image….[and think more positively about] engaging in casual sex, watching sexually explicit material (i.e., pornography), masturbating, and wearing ‘sexy’ clothing.
